What's "Waypoints"???
The short answer -- Waypoints is our new bi-weekly thought piece about CHANGE and investing.
Simply ...in Waypoints, we'll apply our lifelong obsession with CHANGE to our domain expertise in tech, telecom and media ... just as we have been doing for the past 6 years as global tech strategists.
What's the content of Waypoints?
The structure will consist of:
- A discussion about global tech stocks ... roughly 10 pages, very much stock specific with long and short ideas from our portfolio.
- A 2 pager about upcoming datapoints that we consider most relavent to tech investors.
- A 4-5 page conversation digging deeper into the topic of CHANGE itself.
- Always On -- what does Pip talk about on Tony Perkins' Always On blog this week?
That's the short answer. Now ... what's the longer story?
Well, the longer story involves CHANGE, long journeys, and the artwork of our good friend Eric Hopkins ...
Point #1 --- We're obsessed with change ... why things change ... when things change ... in what ways we'll apply change to tech investing ... and so on.
Point #2 --- We're also well aware of the fact that our obsession with CHANGE is a never-ending journey. If we're considered experts of sorts on CHANGE, it's relative!! ...we're sure that by age 90, we'll still know extremely little about it. It's a life-long pursuit... a looooong journey...
Now ...a waypoint is defined as "a point on a journey or route where a traveler can stop or change course."
So ...every two weeks, we'll stop and reflect and share what we're learning about CHANGE and technology.
Our goal with Waypoints, simply, is to help people get clearer in the decisions they need to make about technology.
Where does Eric Hopkins fit in?
Ah yes...
Point #3 --- Eric is an aerial landscape artist based on the small island of North Haven off the coast of Maine.
He's also a student pilot, a gallery owner, our favorite artist ... and a great tour guide :-) ...
Turns out - Eric is just as fanatical about change as we are. He 's the president of the Earthshine Institute ... a supporting organization of the Lindbergh Foundation that focuses on the balance of technology and nature and on building connections. So the connection between us runs much deeper than an affinity for a few paintings. Rather, his paintings reflect his view of Earth and change as well as technology, and so we were naturally attracted to his work.
We can go on and on about Eric ... and we do in a recent Always On article ... but for now, let's get to the punchline about Waypoints, our bi-weekly thought piece ...
One of our favorite works of Eric is called Waypoints #2. So, we display the painting shamelessly throughout both our website and our thought piece... and 25 times each year, in Waypoints, we'll stop along our journey and talk about change ... technology ... investing ... and all sorts of other things.
We invite you to come along...
pip ..
