Q: What’s the “Tech Safari”?

The fast growth companies who are exposed to our favorite themes. We present 57 names whose avg top line growth is 40% in 2005 and 26% in 2006 and include 12 of them in our Buy list…more on page 11…

Q: Any major changes to what investment themes shape your Buy / Sell lists?

Not particularly. Our big 3 à we prefer share stealing large caps – DELL … restructurers who ‘get’ that change is necessary – MOT … and those who are fast growers despite tech’s overall secular demise – RIMM, XMSR – more on page 8…

Q: What technologies do you think will win and lose?

Winners à Indian outsourcing, Flat panel display TVs, Satellite radio, Blackberry, Virtualization. Losers à RFID, Grid computing, WiMAX, Entertainment PC, Software as a service…more on page 24

Q: What changes have you made on your stock “Buy” list?

We removed TSMC, SPIL, IRF, CSCO and IBM while shifting 9 others from “Buy” to “Candidate”. Five favorites on the Buy list à RIMM, XMSR, AAPL, GLW, MOT … m ore on page 11 …

Q: Themes on your Sell list?

We’re still biased against smaller cap, mispositioned software and comm. Equipment names: Siebel, Ciena, Extreme… more on page 10 …

Q: What tech events matter most in the next few weeks?

Things are pretty quiet in August but early September will be abuzz with Smith Barney’s Tech Conference on Sept 6th , Intel’s mid qtr on the 8th followed shortly by peers TI, XLNX, ALTR. Then “off quarter” September results from ORCL, COGN, ATYT, RIMM. …more on page 18…
