Jörgen van der Sloot

Type of Fellow: Change Fellow

Description:   Jörgen van der Sloot

Jörgen is research director at FreedomLab Future Studies, an independent research lab based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. FreedomLab provides alternative visions and creative strategies for various companies in the media industry, the investment community and the non-profit sector. They use scenario based reasoning to develop future studies and methodology that help their partners to navigate to the future and anticipate the changes they encounter.

Prior to joining FreedomLab Jörgen has had a long history in various media companies. Ranging from Dutch national broadcasters to independent television production companies in the Netherlands and the US. At the end of the last millennium Jörgen was involved with the set up of several internet based companies and experienced the boom and the bust first hand. It was in those days that the current team of FreedomLab started working together closely on various projects. With the release in 2004 of the documentary "Powerplay, who determines your near future?” (co-directed by Jörgen) the team laid the foundation for its research activities. That documentary still holds the vision of the lab today.

Jörgen holds a masters degree in communication sciences from the University of Amsterdam.

Check out FreedomLab's website (http://www.freedomlab.org) for their views on media, technology and change.
